With UNESCO, the WHO & the ASA
Paris, France. Over a thousand medical experts from around the world gathered to share the latest research and medical achievements in the field of acupuncture therapies. Dr K St John was among seven Americans representing the United States at the World Acupuncture Day event organized under the patronage of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and the WHO (World Health Organization) at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
Respected physicians from the United States, Greece, France, China and Mexico urged the use of Acupuncture therapies to increase therapeutic outcomes, reduce medical costs and to improve patient satisfaction.
Growing scientific evidence supports this recommendation, revealing that acupuncture is clinically effective, safe and cost effective when compared to conventional treatments.
Strong evidence shows acupuncture has a positive effect on migraine prophylaxis, headache, chronic low back pain, allergic rhinitis, knee osteoarthritis, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, post-operative nausea and vomiting and post-operative pain.
Current research shows acupuncture to be effective in treating an additional 38 conditions.
Including obesity, anxiety, depression, insomnia, menopausal hot flashes, asthma, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, acute low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, elbow pain, labor pain, restless leg syndrome, acute stroke, stroke rehabilitation, hypertension, ambulatory and craniotomy anaesthesia.
Dr K is a board certified, licensed acupuncturist with over twenty years of experience in the field of integrative medicine. She is the clinical director of Stardust Health, LLC in Alaska and the founder of ModernMedicineWoman.com, an online wellness boutique that offers treatment support, high quality healing products and evidence based advice from licensed medical providers.
